Ephesus was a religious hub in the Roman Empire, and Paul's letter to that city is charged with Christ's authority over everything that seems to control the visible world. Whether it be the cults in ancient Rome or the markets and governments of today, the message of Ephesians is that Jesus Christ is Lord over all. The lordship of Christ also results in a new community that experiences unity despite its diversity.
